# The History tab

> Every record’s chronological story — meetings, tasks, notes, field updates, stage moves and logged calls — with per-family filters.

_Collection: Tasks, Notes & Lists (productivity) — Kepler Help Center. Canonical: https://keplercrm.com/support/articles/activity-timeline/_

Every record's **History** tab is its audit spine — a single reverse-chronological feed of everything that has happened to the record, from every source. It is read-only: you record work from the Notes and Calls tabs and the record's **Add Activity** menu, and History shows what resulted.

## What appears on the timeline

| Family | What's in it |
| --- | --- |
| Calendar events | Meetings linked to the record — scheduled, attended or cancelled, with attendees and a join link for upcoming ones. |
| Task events | Tasks created and completed against the record. |
| Note events | Notes attached to the record. |
| Updates | Field changes ("Salary updated", "Status updated") and record creation — automatic changes group together so the feed stays readable. |
| Stage changes | Application stage and outcome movements linked to the record. |
| List changes | Records added to or removed from lists. |
| Files | File activity linked to the record. |
| Logged calls & messages | Calls, meetings and messages logged by your team from the Notes tab, plus synced emails and messages. |

Use the family **filter toggles** at the top of the timeline to focus on what you care about — your choices are remembered.

## Recording something that happened elsewhere

Not everything happens inside Kepler, and History itself has no create controls. To record a call, meeting or message that happened off-platform, open the record's **Notes** tab (or its **Add Activity** menu) and choose **Log call**, **Log meeting** or **Log message** — see [Working with notes](/support/articles/working-with-notes/). To book a meeting, use **Schedule meeting** on the **Calls** tab or in the **Add Activity** menu. Both appear in History once saved, so the record's story has no gaps.

> **TIP:** Log the calls that matter the moment they end — direction and outcome fields make "how many client calls did we actually make this month?" answerable later.
