# AI in Kepler — overview

AI in Kepler isn't a chatbot bolted to the side — it's threaded through the workflows where admin time actually goes.

## The principles

  - **Human-in-the-loop.** AI fills empty fields and ranks freely, but anything that *changes* existing data goes through review. You can roll back applied changes.

  - **Explainable.** Match verdicts come with per-criterion evidence; proposals show their source.

  - **Scoped to your workspace.** AI processing serves your workspace only. See [AI & data privacy](/support/articles/ai-data-privacy/).

## Configuring suggested updates

Configure how a column is filled when you create or edit it: manually, from other fields on the record, or from source content. For source-content suggestions, workspace administrators control the allowed communication sources under **Settings → AI**.

## AI credits

AI credit use varies by action. Job-description generation and candidate-matching runs consume credits; ordinary Assistant chat does not decrement the counter, but an active entitlement with available credits is still required. Kepler reports when the workspace has reached its limit.
