# Fees, splits, aftercare & billing

> Record the money side of a placement — fee, splits, invoicing, guarantee terms and automatic reminder tasks.

## Fee details and splits

On the placement page, record the full fee and how it's divided with the **fee splits** editor — split by percentage between consultants who shared the deal, or between resourcer and account manager, per your commission model. Splits must total **100%**; if no splits are entered, the full fee is attributed to the placing consultant. Splits feed consultant-level performance reporting.

## Invoice and payment status

Each placement carries an **invoice status** (Not invoiced, Drafted, Sent, Paid, Void or Written off) and a separate **payment status** (Unpaid, Partial, Paid, Overdue or Written off), available throughout the placement lifecycle — shown as badges on the placement and in list views, so consultants can see billing state without accounting access.

## Aftercare, guarantee and extensions

  - **Aftercare** — planned post-placement check-ins with candidate and client.

  - **Guarantee** — the rebate/replacement window you've agreed with the client.

  - **Extensions & rate revisions** — for contract placements, end dates, renewal terms and rate changes over time.

## Automatic reminder tasks

**Date changes create reminder tasks automatically.** Set or change an aftercare date, guarantee end or extension review date and Kepler creates or updates a linked task for the placement's recruiter at the right time — guarantee and extension reminders arrive as high priority — so a fall-off inside guarantee or a contract end never arrives unannounced. If no recruiter is set, the task is assigned to the person making the change. Invoice date and payment date changes also create follow-up tasks. The tasks appear in **Tasks** like any other, linked back to the placement.

## Reporting on the money

  - The **Placement Finance** dashboard in **Reports** tracks fee income, rebates, and invoice/payment status.

  - Custom reports can break fees down by consultant, client, period or placement type — see [Reports & analytics](/support/articles/reports-and-analytics/).

> **NOTE:** Kepler is the system of record for the deal ; it doesn't replace your accounting software. Most teams mirror invoice status here so consultants see payment state without accounting access.
