# Managing tasks

> Create, assign and complete tasks — and triage the tasks AI suggests from your conversations.

_Collection: Tasks, Notes & Lists (productivity) — Kepler Help Center. Canonical: https://keplercrm.com/support/articles/managing-tasks/_

Tasks are Kepler's to-do layer for follow-ups, reminders and prep work. Tasks can stand alone or link to records; manage them from the **Tasks** page, from the Tasks tabs on candidates, contacts, companies and jobs, or inline from an application drawer.

## Creating tasks

  - From **Tasks** — create with a title, assignee, priority, due date and linked records.

  - From any record's **Tasks** tab — pre-linked to that record.

  - From the **application drawer** — add and complete follow-ups inline while working the pipeline.

  - **Automatically** — placement date changes (aftercare, guarantee, extensions) create reminder tasks; see [Fees, aftercare & billing](/support/articles/fees-aftercare-and-billing/).

  - **By AI suggestion** — see below.

## Suggested tasks

Kepler watches your synced conversations and meetings for commitments — "I'll send the shortlist Friday", "chase the client after the offer call" — and proposes them as **suggested tasks** in [Notifications](/support/articles/notifications/). Each suggestion shows its **source** (the email or meeting it came from), the **records** it concerns, a proposed **assignee** and **due date**.

**Accept** a suggestion to turn it into a real task, or **reject** it to dismiss. Suggestions never become tasks by themselves.

## Working your task list

  - Filter by status, **priority**, assignee and due date — including quick slices for **Overdue**, **Due Today** and **Next 7 Days**.

  - Check tasks off as you go; overdue tasks are flagged, and the dashboard groups your tasks into Overdue / Due Today / Upcoming.

  - Select multiple tasks to complete, reopen, reprioritise, reassign or delete them. Kepler applies the change immediately and shows the result when the request finishes.

## Keyboard shortcuts on the task list

These work on the **Tasks** page in list mode, when you're not typing in a field:

| Shortcut | Action |
| --- | --- |
| N | Add a task |
| ↑ / ↓ | Move the row cursor |
| X | Select or deselect the cursor row |
| C | Complete or reopen the cursor row |
| Enter | Open the cursor row for editing |

> **TIP:** Let the calendar drive same-day work and tasks drive everything else. If it has a time, it's a meeting; if it has a deadline, it's a task.
