Placement types and templates

Kepler seeds Permanent, Contract, Retained and Temporary placement types, and admins can create additional types or archive and restore existing ones. Each type has a form template: the set of fields the placement form shows for that type. The seeded defaults (base salary and equity for permanent; day rate, margin and extensions for contract; hourly and charge rates for temporary) can be tailored:

  • Add, rename or remove fields per template.
  • Field types: text, number, currency, percent, date, boolean and select.
  • Fields can also be marked Required; Select fields need one or more options.
  • Fee income and fee splits are standard placement finance fields. Payment split, Mandate signed and Milestone reached are editable fields seeded on the Retained template, so you can rename or remove them.

Tips for clean templates

  • Keep templates lean — every field you add is a field consultants must fill. Capture what you report on; the rest belongs in notes.
  • Prefer selects over free text for anything you'll aggregate ("fee basis", "rebate terms").
  • Match your accounting language — if finance says "charge rate", don't call it "bill rate" here.

Template changes affect how new placements are captured and how existing ones group in reports. Add fields freely; rename or repurpose existing ones deliberately.
